Set against the stunning backdrop of rolling hills, historic castles, golden beaches and quaint fishing villages in the northeast of the UK. Port St James is a typical sleepy Northumbrian fishing village consisting of fishermen’s cottages clustered ’round a small, safe but tidal harbour. The story is set in the present-day village which has a Neolithic fortification, a medieval castle and a fifteenth-century smugglers inn. A derelict farm on the hill above the harbour is the centre of a story involving the two main characters. Can the divorced penniless victim of an abusive childhood, teenage rape, forced and abusive marriage to a violent husband ever trust a man again and if so enough to find affection? Equally, can a recently divorced ex-serviceman whose wife was repeatedly unfaithful ever trust a woman again with his heart? Is this going to end tragically like Romeo and Juliet or will love triumph over the odds?
